3D Generalist - Technical Artist

Senior Game Programmer (UE4)

Location: Edinburgh & Lothians

You will be a foundational hire for our studio

  • Participating in an iterative game design process by working closely with designers and artists.

  • Programming game mechanics and features in UE4 with Blueprints and C++

  • Developing guidelines and workflows to ensure best practices.

  • Tracking and fixing bugs

Qualifications

  • Strong Blueprints & C++ knowledge and math skills.

  • Minimum 5 years of game industry experience as a programmer.

  • Ability to write a robust, reliable, and efficient code.

  • Professionalism and a high work ethic.

  • Passion for games.

  • Advanced English language skills.

  • At least one previously shipped PC/console video game.

  • Design AI behaviour trees.

  • Highly efficient in UE4, strong skills in C++ and Blueprints and UE4 Source code.

  • Mostly responsible for all the coding aspects of the entire game project.

  • Other responsibilities range from helping in the development of the project pipeline and workflow (Versioning, helping the team to build a flexible and solid pipeline etc..).

  • A great problem solver and team player.

  • Experience in multiplayer and co-op titles, shooters, creating upgrade systems, implementing UI, help make sure the game is well optimised and performance is kept in check.

  • Experience with PS and Xbox development is a plus.

3D Generalist - Technical Artist

3D Generalist | Technical Artist

Location: Edinburgh & Lothians

With emphasis on Lighting and Scene-assembly in UE4:

  • Very Keen eye for colour, mood and lighting.

  • Strong knowledge for lighting scenes in 3DS Max using Vray or Arnold.

  • Strong experience using UE4’s lighting, shading and scene assembly.

  • Very good knowledge of texture baking in 3DS Max.

  • Able to organise and assemble environments from given assets. 

  • Good experience modeling hard surface environment assets for games, UV unwrapping, re-topology and texturing.

  • Hard surface character modeling is a plus but not required.

  • Developing guidelines and workflows to ensure best practices.

  • A great problem solver and a good team player.

  • Good English communication skills.

3D Generalist - Technical Artist

3D Animator

Location: Edinburgh & Lothians

  • Comfortable animating in 3DS Max (or willingness to transition to 3DS Max in a reasonable period of time).

  • Will be animating using a combination of CAT, Biped, as well as custom rigs.

  • Should be comfortable working with motion captured animations as well as procedurally generated motion (multi limbed characters, robots and creatures etc) and able to amend or clean the motion to help speed up the workflow.

  • Will be animating mechanical and bio-mechanical characters as well as flying ships.

  • Able to convey good characteristics via body motion alone.

  • Good sense of scale and timing to be able to animate characters which seem large and heavy.

  • Efficient in creating convincing looping animations and understands transitions and types of blending in game animation.

  • Experience with UE4 and video game animations is a plus but not required.

3D Generalist - Technical Artist

Character TD (3DS Max)

Location: Remote (or Edinburgh & Lothians)

  • Strong knowledge of UE4 /game engines limitations and production needs.

  • Good experience with UE4 and its related animation workflow.

  • Strong rigging and skinning skills for characters (Will be rigging mechanical and bio-mechanical characters/ monsters of various shapes and sizes).

  • Help create rigs to automate multi-legged creatures walking on rough uneven terrain.

  • Strong experience using CAT and Biped and adding custom rigs on top to help enhance workflow when required.

  • Help in enhancing workflow when dealing with importing motion capture and re-mapping inside 3DS Max.

  • Rigs should be considered for video games (i.e finding clever ways to do more with less bones or joints).

  • Is able to create custom scripts using Max Script or other scripting/programming languages.

  • Developing guidelines and workflows to ensure best practices.

  • A great problem solver and a good team player.

  • Good English communication skills.

3D Generalist - Technical Artist

Shading & VFX Artist (UE4)

Location: Remote (or Edinburgh & Lothians)

  • Create realistic and stylised visual FX (including Fire, smoke, explosions, dust, splashes, water, debris, etc…) inside UE4.

  • Strong skills in UE4 materials and VFX (both Cascade and Niagara).

  • Able to create complex material shaders for both organic and hard surfaces.

  • Highly flexible, able to work with different software and tools and able to utilise simulation software for custom VFX generation (Houdini, Phoenix FD, FumeFX etc..).

  • Experience using 3d applications to create VFX assets and import them into UE4 (Ex. Pre-baking large debris to utilise in the engine or modeling/texturing ground damage effects to utilise during explosions etc...).

  • Profiling particles and shaders for optimisation to maximise in game performance.

  • Working knowledge of sprite sheet creation to be used in animated sequences.

  • Work closely with the team to develop VFX best practices guidelines and workflows.

  • Team player, problem solver, responds to and implements changes according to feedback and direction.

  • Good English communication skills.

3D Generalist - Technical Artist

3D Environment Artist

Location: Remote

  • Create various assets of the game environment such as terrains, valleys, props, etc in a 3D environment. Hard surface modeling is a plus.

  • Experience with terrain creation tools outside UE4 such as (World Creator, Gaia etc.).

  • Experience in both high & low poly 3d modeling. Must have good re-topology skills for in-game use.

  • Skilled in texturing as well as strong knowledge for UV unwrapping.

  • Can create 3D assets and textures in line with the project's artistic and technical direction.

  • Must be able to work with rough concept art and add details on the go as needed in 3d. 

  • UE4 experience and shading is a plus.

  • Good English communication skills.

  • Team player, responds to and implements changes according to feedback and direction.

3D Generalist - Technical Artist

3D Character & Hard Surface Artist

Location: Remote 

With emphasis on modeling sci-fi stylised space ships, weapons, robots and bio-mechanical units for games.

 

  • Strong hard surface modeling skills.

  • Experience in both high & low poly 3D modeling. Must have very good re-topology skills for in-game use.

  • Skilled in texturing as well as strong knowledge for UV unwrapping.

  • Can create 3D assets and textures in line with the project's artistic and technical direction.

  • Should have a good eye for silhouettes, form and an attention to details.

  • Must be able to work with rough concept art and add details on the go as needed in 3D. Other times, to quickly concept sculpt a given idea for a character.

  • UE4 experience and shading is a plus.

  • Good English communication skills.

  • Team player, responds to and implements changes according to feedback and direction.

3D Generalist - Technical Artist

UX | UI Designer (UE4)

Location: Remote

  • Work closely with game designers, artists, and engineers to create user interface elements, like menus, widgets and to translate game systems into intuitive interfaces that support and enhance the general game experience.

  • Extensive experience in UE4 UMG and Blueprints.

  • Develop and optimise UI content in UE4.

  • Good Graphic design skills with emphasis on Sci-fi.

  • Good English communication skills.

  • Team player, responds to and implements changes according to feedback and direction.

3D Generalist - Technical Artist

Concept Artist - Environment

Location: Remote

  • Creating both rough and high quality concept art of various terrains structures and environments (Deserts, Sci-fi Structures, etc...).

  • Good eye for perspective, colour, materials, lighting, mood, form, silhouettes, and scale.

  • Experience blending 3D techniques into concept art workflows.

  • Good English communication skills.

  • Team player, responds to and implements changes according to feedback and direction.

3D Generalist - Technical Artist

Concept Artist - Hard Surface

Location: Remote

  • Creating both rough and high quality concept art of hard surface and biomechanical objects (Vehicles, Sci-fi Stylised Space Ships, Weapons, Robots and Biomechanical monsters).

  • Good eye for perspective, color, lighting, silhouette and form.

  • Good English communication skills.

  • Team player, responds to and implements changes according to feedback and direction.
